Decorative Compact Panels

HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE, is the direct descendent of original plastic laminate. It is considered to be one of the most durable decorative surface materials & is available with special performance properties including Chemical, Fire & wear resistence. Due to its durability, HPL are common choice for horizontal and vertical surfaces and can stand up to rigorous demands for high traffic settings such as Hospitals, Shopping Malls etc.

Manufacturing

HPL, consists of more than 60-70 % craft paper with the remaining 30-40 % a combination of Phenol-Formaldehyde for the core layer & Melamine-Formaldehyde resin for the surface layer. Both the resins belong to a class of thermosetting resins which crosslink during the press cycle creating irreversible chemical bonds that produce on non-reactive, stable material with characteristics different & superior to those of component parts.

HPL is produced by saturating multiple layers of Kraft paper & Decor Paper impregnated with resins. The resulting sandwich is then placed into a press which simultaneously applies Heat(120 degree centigrade) & Pressure (5MPa) for a period of 40-50 minutes which allows resins to flow into Kraft Paper & subsequently cure into a consolidated sheet. Thermosetting creates strong, irreversible bonds that contributes to its durability.
